Job description: 

Our client is a £50 million division of a £300 million group that provides operational and engineering solutions to a variety of clients across a number of sectors. It seeks to appoint a commercially astute finance professional to report to the Managing Director and deliver the highest levels of financial integrity and control whilst supporting commercial development and performance.

The finance function delivers an integrated, sustainable and high quality accounting and reporting service to the business and finance customers and the Divisional Financial Controller will ensure the smooth operation of financial control, accounting and reporting together with other processes across finance to a high level of quality and consistency.  A key role in the Divisional Management Team the successful candidate will lead the finance team to ensure that actual and forecast numbers and commentary are robust, relevant and insightful.  He/she will also deliver the outputs needed to support the making of both strategic and operational decisions working closely with the executive to identify and deliver margin improvement opportunities.

A qualified accountant with experience of operating successfully in an executive team, the individual to be appointed will be confident, impactful, organised, challenging and approachable.  He/she will quickly form effective working relationships, will be able to delegate effectively, will be decisive and have excellent communication and team building skills.  The successful candidate will demonstrate an attention to detail and a willingness both to “roll their sleeves up” and to contribute at a strategic level to the commercial and financial growth of the business.  The Divisional Financial Controller will fulfil both Divisional and group reporting requirements, will oversee and develop the Divisional business planning and annual budget processes and build positive communication with development and operational teams.  He/she will work closely with clients finance and procurement teams as well as identifying, reporting and mitigating financial and commercial risks and help to identify and develop plans to exploit new business opportunities.
