Job description: 

Operating across two well invested and modern facilities our client has a turnover of c £15million, a rich heritage and a reputation across its global customer base for quality, service and innovation. Dynamically managed with ambitious plans and a record of continued investment it seeks to appoint a well rounded, practical and pragmatic Operations Director to strengthen and complement an experienced and collegiate executive team.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive the candidate to be appointed will directly or indirectly lead all of the operational activities of the business and will drive continuous improvement of performance in order to deliver objectives in the most efficient and optimal manner. The successful candidate will ensure that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with all relevant legislation, optimise business processes, and maximise and optimise processing and production capacity. He/she will project manage key investment projects, will provide leadership to the Operations support functions and ensure the sites meet both current and future quality management standards together with maintaining the sites infrastructure including equipment maintenance. The individual to be appointed will provide a short, medium and long term strategic plan encompassing a continuous improvement programme and people performance management process.

 

The Operations Director will have a record of successful leadership of a high performing team consistently achieving its objectives with management experience ideally gained in a fast moving consumer goods or possibly ceramics manufacturer. He/she will be proven in leading transformation projects with continuous improvement methodologies and be an effective change manager able to identify opportunities for improvement and lead these through to delivering bottom line benefits by having a best in class company wide outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working. Collaborative and engaging, used to working in organisations with cross functional team work and an agile approach to problem solving the successful candidate will thrive in a fast paced business with short lines of communication. Goal oriented and focussed the individual appointed will be able to demonstrate the ability to evaluate situations commercially and pragmatically as well as being comfortable under pressure gathering information, evaluating situations and then executing appropriate plans .
