Our client is one of the region's leading preparatory schools with a reputation over generations for creating a positive learning environment both inside and outside the classroom. It seeks to appoint a Bursar to succeed the current incumbent who has created an outstanding platform to provide commercial rigour, challenge and support across all of the schools activities.
The successful candidate will lead the management of the schools finances, direct the non teaching administrative and domestic staff and oversee the development of the schools property, accommodation and facilities. He/she will as the most senior member of the non teaching staff and a member of the school leadership team, will work closely with the Head Teacher in the smooth management and development of the school.The individual to be appointed will together with the head, prepare the schools business plans, will be responsible for the effective management of financial systems and administration, advise the Leadership team and board of Governors on general financial policy and monitor income and expenditure in relation to budget. He/ she will also be responsible for the maintenance and security of school buildings and together with the head for all staff ( c 50 ).
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong academic record, be experienced in working in the life of a business, have proven managerial experience of operations and people with Health and Safety ideally as part of a previous remit .He/she will have well developed IT skills and a record of successful project management. Fundamentally this is a role for an individual with good general management skills supported by an accountancy qualification and an empathy with the values and beliefs that have underpinned the success of the school to date . In short an all rounder with who is well organised, has good attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and with the highest levels of leadership and integrity.
