Our client is an independent business ( turnover c£40 million ) within a group whose revenues exceed £200 million. Operating from three manufacturing sites it is a well regarded B2B business that has real opportunity to develop as a stand alone and recognisable national brand whilst maximising the product opportunities and production capabilities across the group. To achieve these ambitions it seeks to appoint a well rounded and commercial Managing Director to provide strategic and operational leadership.
The individual to be appointed will contribute to the design and delivery of the annual business plan and longer term operating plan strategy by providing insight from a market perspective including market and production opportunity analysis. He/she will design and deliver the strategy to establish the business as a stand alone brand and will work closely with other Managing Directors across the group to maximise sales opportunities across the board together with working effectively as a key member of the leadership team promoting the company’s vision, behaviours and aspirations at all times. .
The successful candidate will provide executive leadership to direct reports and their teams ensuring all activities are aligned across the company and deliver required results. The Managing Director to be appointed will develop and implement clear and relevant KPI’s that accurately measure performance, highlight opportunities for improvement and growth and confirm that they have been achieved. He/she will monitor and manage performance, including use of appropriate processes, behaviours and technology ensuring corrective action is taken when performance is not delivered so opportunities are exploited and risks are appropriately managed. The individual to be appointed will provide guidance and leadership to the team at all times adhering to the health and safety standards and focusing on the safety and welfare of their teams. It is taken as read that the successful candidate will seek to maximise sales opportunities, deliver required production output in accordance with the sales order book, optimise production capacity in accordance with sales pipeline opportunities and identify a culture keen to implement continuous improvement programmes.
The Managing Director to be appointed will have the ability to plan and manage a production and sales based business which has both direct and indirect channels, will have a proven record of implementing effective change to support rapidly shifting business demands and of being able to problem solve production, operational and strategic issues through a pragmatic and commercially sound approach. An ability to think outside the box and to propose and deliver original solutions and to work to tight deadlines whilst responding to last minute changes within these, in a positive and enthusiastic way is advantageous. It is assumed that the individual to be appointed will have excellent attention to detail, thorough planning ability, very good stakeholder management skills and a strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics using business management software. It is expected that the individual to be appointed will be proven in senior leadership roles, comfortable in a multi site environment and have experience of delivering complex production change programmes in a collegiate team who are passionate about what they do.
