Job description:

DYNAMIC DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS: SUSTAINING SERVICE & SUPPORT…(making 2+2=5!)

Bristol/UK wide

c£100K/£110K Base + Bonus & Bens Pkge with Main Board and Equity Potential

“At the cutting edge of fulfilment (major multiple retailer supply-chain)”

Space Engineering Services turnover c£90m per annum and, as such, are one of the South-West’s hidden success stories (www.space-engineering.co.uk).  Investor backed, progressive and entrepreneurial with a substantive “blue chip” customer base, they are “provider of choice” to a number of the major UK multiple retailers.  Specifically, Space Engineering Services are market leaders in the delivery of refrigerated solutions.  An indicator of their enterprise is a successful entry into the digital domain to support a world famous US Global fulfilment brand in the UK, whilst also simultaneously underpinning a major British household high street name’s national “sandwich/grab & go” offer.  Their USP is moving with the market, serving very demanding 24/7 clients with an integrated solution of technical and service excellence.  It is this proactive planning and rapid response that gives them the competitive edge to succeed.

Service, Maintenance & Compliance are fundamental to this…being the “foundation” of the business and mission-critical to its continued success and brand/reputation in a challenging sector.  Space Engineering Services seek a dynamic Director of Operations to lead and manage this 400 strong function. It’s about drive and diplomacy, incisiveness and decisiveness, commercial acumen and customer connectivity coupled with lean and efficient practices, rigorous resource planning/deployment/rostering, effective recruitment and retention, tight margin management/cost control, contract design and delivery…all underpinning proactive, intuitive and user-focused customer service.

Capability is more important than qualification.  You have a results-driven team ethos with a strong track record of delivery via a large team in the fulfilment arena.  You are of graduate professional calibre (maybe an MBA, maybe the “University of Life”) whichever - you possess both board and promotion potential.   Prospects are positive, but promotion is to be earned.  You may be from a parcel/logistics, a retail/wholesale or supply chain background or have perhaps ex-military formative influences wrapped up in a strong Operational CV.  Whatever, words like “dynamic, deliverer, enterprising, proactive, commercial and competitive” describes you (and Space Engineering Services also). The idea is to make 2+2=5 by putting you both together.
