Job description: 

The Royal Bath and West of England Society has been at the centre of the rural economy in the South West since 1777.  It is best known for the Royal Bath and West Show. The Society is seeking to appoint a new Head of Estates, reporting to the CEO, to lead and manage the estates team in providing the Society with a well organised and cost-effective infrastructure across the 240-acre showground.

General Duties:

Financial – manage utility costs to minimise wastage, renewable energy contracts and business tenants on the showground.

Organisational – ensure smooth running of estates team and associated H&S, COSHH and environmental procedures, scheduled building inspections and planned maintenance programme, efficient procurement of estate related contractors, and maintenance of estate database 

Administration – maintain stock register of plant and equipment, water and foul waste plans.

Responsible for safe use, maintenance, tidiness and cleanliness of all workplaces, equipment and consumables in line with the Society’s health and safety practice.

Show tasks – specific duties related to the main Bath and West show and other shows held on the estate during the year.

Candidates will have a strong and proven track record of leading an estates and facilities function across a comparable high footfall site, with experience of leading and supporting colleagues.

A good general education to at least A level standard, financially aware and the ability to set and manage budgets, with vocational qualifications relevant to facilities management.  High levels of motivation and customer service and a flexible and innovative approach to the role, which encompasses some weekend working and call-out responsibility when required.
