Bristol Zoological Society is undertaking a radical transformation project which is so much more than just a change of location with the closure of the Zoo in Clifton and the development of the Wild Place Project. This transformation will enable the Society to expand and redefine its conservation programme plus deliver educational initiatives to a wider audience. This defining project will ensure that the Society continues to be a global leader in conservation as well as operating a leading visitor attraction.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role is very broad being both strategic and tactical and has three main elements. Firstly, it will be the lead in ensuring that the Zoo delivers to the consumer a great value experience allowing this proposition to be inclusive to all. Secondly, this role will head up the Education and Public Engagement Team to encourage repeat visitations and enable a greater understanding of conservation under our vision ‘saving wildlife together’. Lastly, this role has a commercial element whereby income is maximised to ensure that the Zoo continues to be viable but without compromising its values.
Candidates will be values-driven professionals with a background in leading the operations within a visitor attraction and, preferably, those which have an educational element. You must be excited by being part of the senior leadership team that is transforming the Zoo ensuring not only that the visitor feels a real connection with the values of the Society, but also to ensure commercial sustainability.
